Mr. and Mrs. George Wax, who have lived northeast of Newman all of their married lives, quietly observed their 50th wedding anniversary Tuesday.
The anniversary was celebrated formally on Sunday Apr 17, when all but one of their children, grand children and great-grandchildren were home for the anniversary dinner, which was served at Shady Rest, near Chrisman.
George Wax and Miss Rosie Kincaid, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Kincaid Sr., were married in her parents' home at 8:00 p.m. May 3, 1905. Only member of the family were present, including Dave Wax, John Wax, Mrs. Nora Loudenback, Mrs. Elizabeth DeAtley(she wasn't Mrs. DeAtley at the time, for her marriage to Morrison DeAtley was to take place in the Fall of the same year), and the late J. H. Kincaid.
Following their wedding, Mr. and Mrs. Wax went to Tompkinsville, Ky., on their honeymoon, visiting his relatives.
Five sons were born to Mr. and Mrs. Wax. Eldredge is Divison Revenue Accounting Manager for the Illinois Bell Telephone Co., and resides in Mr. Prospect, Ill., Earl is superintendent of Feitshans High School, Springfield, Ill., Ervin is manager of the Boston office of the Corporation Trust Co., Ray and Roy operate farms near Newman.
There also are 12 grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. One grand child, Mrs. Leo Andruezk, whose husband is in the military service in Alaska was unable to be here for the anniversary dinner.
