Mex The Dog

Mex The Dog started out as a lost puppy in Mexico when an Army Field Hospital Medic named Mott Keys found him in a litter of abandoned pups when keys was stationed along the border in 1914 during the Mexican Revolution,Key's company adopted Mex as their Army Medic Company Mascot.
As he was rescued in a litter of pups across the border from Laredo TX in 1914, that would put his birth most definetely in that year. The city across the Rio Grande from Laredo TX is Nuevo Laredo located in Estado de Tamaulipas, Mexico.

Later on Mex went with Keys to The University Of Oklahoma where he lived with the Kappa Sigma fraternity house and a got a job as the First Mascot for the university Of Oklahoma (He lettered in every OU sport)from some say 1915 other say 1919-1828 until he died of old age on April 30th 1928 he was so popular among students that the University closed for his Funeral and procession on May 2nd 1928. Hew was buried in a small casket somewhere underneath the football stadium.

It's remarkable that he made that 600 mile trip and became what some would call the most famous dog in Oklahoma
