Dorothy Prince Torgersen
January 5, 1936 - August 26, 2021 (age 85)

Dorothy Prince Torgersen 85, of New Harmony, Utah returned to her Heavenly Father and reunited with her husband on August 26, 2021.

Dorothy was born on January 5, 1936 to Lyle and Venice Prince in New Harmony, Utah following an older sister, Delora. Her brother, Mervin later joined the family. Dorothy had an idyllic childhood, enjoying the outdoors with friends and family. Dorothy was a seamstress from an early age and sewed all of her own clothes. As a teenager, Dorothy worked at various jobs, including Bulloch's Drug, Dairy Queen and Penney's. An extraordinarily talented lady and lifelong student, during her life she mastered sewing, ceramics, photography, furniture reupholstery, and quilting.

Dorothy attended College of Southern Utah (SUU) where she met her husband, Hal. They were sealed on Sept. 10, 1955 in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints St. George Temple.

Hal and Dorothy later moved their family to Los Angeles where Hal attended USC Dental School. They relocated to Simi Valley where they raised their family.

Dorothy was a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and served in many capacities. She especially enjoyed her positions in the Primary and Young Women organizations, and teaching early morning seminary. Hal and Dorothy served a full-time mission in the Rhode Island Church Education System.

Dorothy will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend. She will be missed by those who joined her in cards, games, puzzles, quilting, decorating and shopping.

Dorothy is survived by her children, Teri (Scott) Lybbert, Kay (Rodger) Graham, Trent (Gina) Torgersen, DeAnn (Paul) Carter, Ron (Danielle) Torgersen and Laura (Chad) Wright, siblings Delora Hunt and Mervin Prince. Dorothy loved her 21 grandchildren and 27 great grandchildren.

Services will be held at the New Harmony Ward Chapel on Saturday, September 4, 2021 with a viewing from 10am - 11am and funeral to follow at 11:30. Interment will be at the New Harmony Cemetery under the direction of Southern Utah Mortuary. www.sumortuary.com
