Paula Lorene Owen had her prayers answered and she became pain free, gaining her wings to her eternal home in Heaven on Friday, August 27, 2021 in Olney. A funeral will be held on Friday, September 3, 2021 at 2:00 PM in Morrison Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Restland Cemetery in Olney. Arrangements are under the direction of Morrison Funeral Home.
On July 26, 1972 at 7:26 AM an angel, Paula Lorene Blackburn was born to Lawrence and Gracie Blackburn in Fort Worth. Paula's family moved to Olney, Texas in August 1981. She attended Olney ISD and played in the marching band. At 18, Paula became a Certified Nurses Assistant at Seven Oaks Nursing Home and worked there for many years. While working there she inspired and touched so many lives, including her soulmate and best friend on December 29, 1998. On May 16, 2003 she married the love of her life, Jason Brad Owen in Olney, Texas. She gave so much in such a short time while here on Earth and was an inspiration to so many.
Paula is survived by her husband of 23 years, Brad Owen of Olney; mother, Gracie Blackburn of Olney; brothers, Jessie McFarland and wife Cricket of Barneyville, OK, Chuck McMillan and wife Jennifer of North Richland Hills, David Blackburn of Wichita Falls, Timbo Blackburn of South Carolina, and Rick Blackburn of Anderson Mills, SC; aunt, Evelyn Hines of Granbury; nephews, Josh McFarland and wife Amanda of Cleburne, Jacob McFarland and wife Kayleigh of Barneyville, OK, Taylor Jones of Leander, Riley Jones of Denton, Lucas Owen of Newcastle, Logan Owen of Newcastle; nieces, Lacie Blackburn of Wichita Falls, and Jerry Jo Miller of Newark, OH; great nieces and nephews, Haylee and Hannah Blackburn, Kegan and Colton King; brothers in law, Chad Owen and wife Sara of Newcastle, and Derrick Owen of Newcastle; mother in law, Joyce Owen of Leander; special friends, Angela Menhennet Clayton and Lisa Duggan; furbabies, Dax and Rebel.
She was joined in the sky with those who preceded her in death, grandparents, J.C. and Willie Hines, J.K. and Betty Brissom Blackburn; father, Lawrence Blackburn; father in law, Donald Owen; grandfather in law, "Papaw" Ferris Pounds; aunts, Roselle Pecina, Qualla Dillon; uncle, James Hines; nephew, Matthew McFarland.
Memorials may be made to the Young County Humane Society or charity of your choice.
The family will receive friends at a visitation held at Morrison Funeral Home Chapel on Thursday, September 2, 2021 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
