Canton – Betty Jo"Beeg" Rathbone Coleman, 87, passed away on Saturday, August 28, 2021 at her residence.
Beeg was a daughter of the late Cromer and Madge Parham Rathbone. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, James Rathbone; and a sister, Phyllis Ann Ward. Beeg was a member of Canton Wesleyan Church and loved to read and help people in need whether at church or a family member. She loved to travel with friends and went on many adventures with Christian Tours. Beeg was a "Mission Belle" attending the Mission School of Nursing and Haywood Community College. She was a registered nurse and worked for Haywood County after retirement.
She is survived by a daughter, Kim Queen (Michael) of Canton; two sisters, Karen Rathbone Wines of Canton and Joanne Wilson of Wake Forest; one brother, Kevin Rathbone (Sherry) of Canton; one grandson, Michael B. Queen and his fiancé, Amanda Chambers; two great-grandchildren, Kristen and McKain Queen; and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 4, 2021 at Canton Wesleyan Church with Reverend David Vos and Reverend Shawn Ward officiating.
