Former Iola resident Constance M. "Connie" Andres, 85, died Saturday Nov. 24, 2007, at Moran Manor in Moran, Kansas.

She was born Aug. 4, 1922, in Manhattan, Kansas, the daughter of Merton and Charlena (Ginter) Hoke.

She was graduated from Mankato High School in 1940.

In 1945, she was married to Howard Ansell. They later divorced.

In 1970, she was married Lyle D. Andres. He died April 27, 2004.

When her health failed she moved to the Moran Manor.

She worked as a telephone operator in LaHarpe, KS. She also sewed and did alterations over the years along with working for Schell Cleaners and Geri's Bridal Boutique. She drove the headstart bus for several years.

She was a member of LaHarpe's Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary and was a past district officer and was a member of the LaHarpe Christian Church.

She is survived by a daughter, Marilyn Andres and husband, Richard, Iola, KS; an adopted son, Michael Zager and wife, Karon, Great Bend, KS; four stepsons, Richard Andres and wife, Marilyn, Iola, KS, Ronald Andres, Lufkin, TX, Gene Andres and wife, Becky, Iola, KS, and Leonard Andres and wife, Pam, Edgerton, KS; two stepdaughters, Phyllis McCullough and husband, Claude, Elk City, KS, and Joyce Andres, Tyro, KS; two brothers, C.J. Hoke, Grand Island, NE, and Gail Hoke, Ogden, KS; and a number of grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

A brother, Merle, died earlier.

Funeral services will be at LaHarpe Christian Church. The Revs. Lloyd Houk and Matt Bycroft will officiate. Burial will be in LaHarpe (KS) Cemetery.
