Hazel Buchanan, 83, of Elm Creek died Saturday, March 24, 2018 at CHI Health Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney. Funeral Services will be 2:00 pm Thursday, March 29, 2018 at the Elm Creek United Methodist Church with the Rev. Doug Gahn officiating. Interment will follow at the Elm Creek Cemetery. Visitation is one hour prior to the service at the church. Services are entrusted to O’Brien Straatmann Redinger Funeral and Cremation Services.
Hazel was born April 17, 1934 in Beloit, KS to Theodore “RJ” Ewing and Caroline (Debay) Ewing. She attended school in Cawker City, KS and was a 1954 graduate of Cawker City High School. Hazel was united in marriage to William Buchanan in March of 1958. The couple moved to Elm Creek, NE in 1962. Hazel was active in Boy Scouts, church and school. She enjoyed music, singing, cooking. She also was a very talented artist. Hazel was a longtime member of the Elm Creek United Methodist Church.
Left to cherish her memory are her son Bill Buchanan and wife Lois of Elm Creek; daughter Brenda Schneider and husband Dwight of Funk; grandchildren Kent (Rebecca) Buchanan, Ray Buchanan, Cherie Schneider and Kelly Schneider; and a great grandson Felix Buchanan.
Hazel was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband William Buchanan.
