Donald was born in Pasadena, California on Dec. 21, 1928.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Bonnie Lee.
He is survived by his loving wife of 69 years, Jeanne Barnhart; his brother, Richard (Barny) Barnhart; his daughter, Suzanne Smith; grandsons Daniel Barnhart and Ryan Collins, granddaughters Lindy Larson, Shaina Lane and Candice Burris; and great-grandchildren Avery and Reece Collins, and Alex and Morgan Larson.
He was in the U.S. Navy from 1946-1948, serving on the USS Pasadena CL-65. He and Jeanne moved to Homer in 1986 from Covina, California. He built his own home with help from his good friends Allen and Tita in the hills of Homer.
He was a man of many talents. He enjoyed fishing and gardening. He loved wood working, making furniture for his family and friends. He also enjoyed making wooden boxes to give to people.
