Bill was born on February 28, 1943, in Spur, Texas, to Raymond Butler and Wanda Guffey. After graduating from Spur High School he enlisted in the U.S. Army where he served for four years. He then attended Texas Tech University where he received his bachelor's degree. In 1973, Bill went to work for the U.S. Department of Agriculture until his retirement in 1993. After his retirement, he found fulfillment in teaching life skills classes such as horticulture and plumbing to inmates in the Texas prison system. Bill was a devoted father, husband and grandfather and will be missed by all who knew him.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond Butler and Wanda Guffey.
Bill is survived by his wife of 48 years, Barbara Butler of Burleson, Texas; son, Jason Butler and wife Patricia of Alvarado, Texas; daughter, Brandy Butler of Burleson, Texas; grandchildren, Kai Nowlin, Ashtyn Butler, Travis Butler and Emma Butler as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and loving friends.
