The family will receive friends from 10:30am until 11:00am on Wednesday, September 1, 2021 at Christ Congregational Church in Johns, Mississippi. The funeral service will follow visitation that same day in the Church. Burial will take place afterwards at Johns Cemetery.
He was born on May 2, 1940 in Jackson, Mississippi to the late James L. Thompson and Freida Patrick Thompson. Dan was a faithful member of Christ Congregational Church in Johns. He also owned his own taxidermy business for several years. An avid outdoorsman, he loved hunting and fishing, even travelling across the country pursuing all sorts of game.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandson, Coleson Jayce Carter, his brothers Marvin and Bo Thompson and his nephew David Thompson.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 40 years, Debbie Thompson; daughter, Teisha Carter (Russell); son, Charlie Thompson (Jessica); and 7 grandchildren: Christian Moss, Baylee, Kylie, Kadin, Kinley and Weston Carter, and Jace Thompson; nephews: Tim Thompson and Cliff Speaks; niece Shirley Puckett.
Dan will be so dearly missed by all of his loved ones, friends, and family. He was a very special man.
