Charlotte K. Phipps, 81 of Siletz died Wednesday, Nov. 21, 2007 at Samaritan Pacific Communities Hospital in Newport.

She was born to Ace Smith and Mildred (Crapper) on Nov. 11, 1926 in Hood River.

She was a homemaker and worked as a hostess at the Toledo Elks Lodge. She loved and collected hummingbirds, and enjoyed sewing and bowling.

She was a member and past president of the Toledo Elks Emblem Club and a member of the Catholic Church.

She was preceded in death by her first husband Gilbert W. Kay of Toledo; granddaughter Charlotte Rose Prokop of Estacada; and son Gilbert M. Kay of Madras.

She is survived by her husband Glen of Siletz; daughter Charline M. (Kay) Prokop (Carl L.) of Estacada; sister Kathleen (Charlie) Buck of San Martin, Calif.; two grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 29, 2007 at the Siletz Catholic Church in Siletz. Family viewing is 10 a.m. at the church. A reception will follow the service at the church. Burial will be at Eureka cemetery in Newport.
