He served in the US Army from 1958 to 1961 and settled in Ridgecrest, CA in 1965. He worked as a machinist model maker for the Naval Air Warfare Station at China Lake, CA until his retirement in 2005.
He is survived by his wife, Beverly Dillon of Ridgecrest, CA; sister Marie Cobb of Waco, TX; son James Dillon III and wife Michelle of Bakersfield, CA; daughter Catherine Lehman and husband Jeff of Trona, CA; stepson Robert Sonnenberg and wife, Alessa of Ridgecrest, CA; stepson Brian Sonnenberg and wife Brandi of Ridgecrest, CA; stepdaughter Brenda Young and husband Bart of Ridgecrest, CA; 12 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
