Patsy Shinn Padgett, of Metairie, passed away on Wednesday, May 16, 2007 at the age of 77. She was born in Franklin, Louisiana, but always considered New Orleans as her home.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Wildon John and Sallie Elizabeth Delony Shinn; husband, John L. Padgett; and son, Timothy John Padgett. She is survived by children, Elizabeth "BEtsy" Villanueva, Norma McCoy and Richard Padgett; and brothers, Wildon John "Jack" Shinn, Jr., George (GG) Shinn, and David Shinn. She was the beloved grandmother to James, Jennifer, Katie Bourgeous, Camille Villanueva and Tadd Minton.
She was a graduate of Southwestern Institute (now ULL) and Florida State's Graduate School of Music where she completed her Masters degree in Piano. She taught music her home and in her later years worked with piano students at the University of New Orleans. She was a member of Pi Kappa Lambda National Music Honorary Fraternity, National Federation of Music Clubs, Cadenzas, Metairie Music Club and was member accompanist to the Melodears, who performed for many nursing homer in the New Orleans area.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Memorial Services at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. (in Metairie Cemetery), on Saturday, May 19, 2007 at 2:00 PM. Interment will follow in Lake Lawn Park & Mausoleum. Visitation on Saturday from 12:00 PM until service time.
