Teresa Kay Martin, 73, of Wister, OK passed away Wednesday, August 25, 2021 in Ft. Smith, AR. Kay was born May 9, 1948 in Poteau to Claude & Lois (Pridmore) Morris.
Kay was a lifelong resident of Wister, OK and a huge Wildcat fan. She retired from a long-time employment at Kenco Plastics where she was a supervisor over the materials department.
Once Kay left the workforce, she spent all of her time with her family and close friends. She enjoyed good conversations, a friendly game of corn hole, or a quick trip to see the Indians. Kay dedicated her whole life to raising her three boys, and while at times she may have wanted to kill them for their shenanigans, their presence here today is proof she had the patience of a saint. She spent many evenings at a ballpark, gymnasium, or cattle barns following her kids and grandkids cheering them on.
Kay carried out her family's traditions managing "The Claude Morris Ranch" at Braidwood where she could be found feeding cows, bailing hay, brush hogging. On a rare occasion just relaxing and watching her hummingbirds.
Kay has worn many hats besides her career and ranching. She was a cook at the sale barn, ran various concession stands, or even dressing up to pass out candy to little kids.
Kay will be missed greatly but her legacy will live on forever through the people closest to her that she impacted so much. She was the exact definition of what a hard-working independent, virtuous woman could ever dream to be. She set a standard for all of those behind her to try and achieve.
Mama, Granny, daughter, sister, Aunt Kay, Indian…… These were just a few names those closest to her called her. The word that described her best was AMAZING!!!
