Karen was born on January 1, 1946, the daughter of Carl and Mary Ellen (Friesenburg) Ross in Marshalltown. She attended Marshalltown High School where she graduated in 1965.
Karen married David Harmon on June 10, 1965. Karen and David made Marshalltown their home where they were blessed with two children. They divorced in 1976.
She was a member of the First Friends Church in Marshalltown. Karen enjoyed needle point, gardening, spending time with family and especially all of her cats.
She is survived by her two children, Christy (Robert) Forbes of Des Moines, Iowa, and Shane (Tammy) Harmon of Florida, and one grand-daughter, Virginia (Ginny) Forbes of Des Moines.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Larry Ross and one sister, Diana Ross.
