Barry G. Dunn, 74, of Irving Place, Kingston died at home on Saturday May 20, 2017. Born April 25, 1943 in Kingston, New York he is the son of the late Peter G. and Beatrice (Durling) Dunn.
Barry began his career as a patrolman, appointed to Kingston Police Department on January 1, 1968. He was assigned as director of training on October 1, 1986. He was appointed to sergeant on February 20, 1988 where he remained in charge of training for the Kingston Police Department. He continued in the capacity of sergeant for the Kingston Police Department until his retirement on May 30, 1992. He was the director of security at Kingston High School. Barry was patriotic with a love of his community and country. He was an active member of the Kingston Police Benevolent Society, former chairman of the Ulster County Conservative Party, and a member of the Kingston Power Boat Association.
Barry is survived by his wife Lois V. Leahy-Dunn; his son Charles J. Dunn; his daughter Lisa; his brother John Chrispell and his wife Tina; four grandchildren; his sister and brother-in-law Judy and Richard Mathews; dear friends Bob and Kathy Rausch and John and Noel VanEtten; several nieces and nephews also survive as well as his canine companion Coconut.
