Mr. James B. Moran, Sr., 83, of Deerfield, passed away on Thursday, August 26, 2021 at St. Elizabeth Medical Center, Utica, with his loving family by his side.
James was born in Utica, on December 7, 1937, the son of Bernard C. and Katherine (Faye) Moran. He was raised in Utica, was a graduate of Utica Free Academy and earned his bachelor's degree from Upper Division College (SUNY), in Marcy. James proudly served in the US Navy from 1956 until his honorable discharge in 1960. On August 1, 1959, James was united in marriage with Elizabeth (Dutchie) F. Schrader, at St. Francis de Sales Church in Utica, a loving and devoted union of 54 years, until Dutchie's death in 2013. At one time, James was employed as an electrical technician with UNIVAC, later with I.C.L and most recently, until his retirement, with Trenton Terminals in Utica. He was a member of the Ancient Order of Hibernians (A.O.H.), Utica Maennerchor, Hidden Valley Golf League, American Legion post 0893, Old Forge and a parishioner of St. Paul's Catholic Church in Whitesboro. James also enjoyed to worship and especially sing, in many local churches, especially St. Leo's in Holland Patent, St. Joseph & St. Patrick in Utica and St. Anne's in Hinckley and he had a special fondness for Three Steeple Parish Community in Paris, NY. Singing Irish songs was a favorite pastime of Jim's and one which he did extremely well. He also enjoyed taking leisure car rides on Sunday mornings with his wife Dutchie and dear friends, Frank Brown and Al Wardel.
Mr. Moran is survived by three daughters and sons-in-law, Karen and Chris Day of Deerfield, Lauren and Deacon Tony Paparella of Deerfield and Christy and Bill Tuttle, Jr. of Whitesboro; one son, James Moran, Jr. and Christie Baye of Deerfield; his cherished grandchildren, Sarah Paparella and Ernest Everett, Ryan (Brianna) Paparella, Ngoc (Cassie), Nguyen, Patrick (Allegrah) Day, Kaitlyn (Jaziel) Lozano, Melinda (Marty) Regan, Matthew (Chin) Day, Collin Moran, Casey Moran, Grace Moran, Jessica Baye, Matthew Baye, Melinda Graniela, Joe Perretta, Michael Tuttle, Dylan (Megan) Tuttle and Sabrina Tuttle and Sean Demma; one sister, Lois Pick of Deerfield; his "adopted" family, John, Pat, Amber and Charlie Ryczek and MaryAnn Powers and his special friend, Terri Scully, as well as several adored great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and in-laws.
