Durden-Hudson Funeral Directors announces the death of Mrs. Sallie Lenora Fields Johnson, age 93,of North Augusta, SC, on Thursday, August 26, 2021, at Caris Healthcare in North Augusta.

Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday, August 31st at 11:00 A.M. in the Peebles-Curry Memorial Chapel with Rev. Casey Shaw officiating. Interment will follow in the Swainsboro City Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. On behalf of the family we serve and Durden-Hudson Funeral Directors, we ask that you please stay safe. Wearing a mask is not a requirement; however, it is our desire that everyone stays healthy and well. Please be mindful and careful during these trying times when attending services of friends and loved ones.

Sallie was born in Swainsboro on June 4, 1928 to Jackson Miles and Flora Mae Thompson Fields. She raised her family in Vero Beach, FL and later lived in Cocoa, FL. Before Sallie became a homemaker full time, she worked in food service. She was active in her church visiting the home bound and preparing Wednesday night dinners. She enjoyed cooking, was an excellent seamstress, and loved spending time with family. Sallie lived four years at Brookdale Assisted Living and then at National Health Care, both of North Augusta. She made many friends and loved her caregivers.

Sallie was preceded in death by her parents; son, Kenneth Harlow Lindsey; husbands, Hubert Harlow Lindsey, who passed in 1973, and James Edward Johnson, who passed in 2013; brothers, Edward Fields and Lynward Fields; and one sister, Leneave Horton.

Survivors Include:
Daughter: Charlette Kennedy of North Augusta
Sisters: Ladelle Canady of Nunez, and Betty (Ennis) Scott of Swainsboro
Grandchildren: Beth Thompson (Alex) of Bluffton, SC., Charles Kennedy (Malinda) of Bluffton, Chris Lindsey of Vero Beach, FL.
Great-Grandchildren: Caleb Graham of Columbia, SC and Grace Kennedy of Bluffton.
