Johnny Lee Fox, 80, of Monticello, died Friday, November 23, 2007, at his home.

Born May 11, 1927, in Drew County, he was a son of the late Banny Lee and Maude Scott Fox.

He retired from the Arkansas Highway Department in 1987 after 38 years of service. He was a member of the Monticello Masonic Lodge #40 and Oak Grove Assembly of God Church.

He was preceded in death by fivebrothers, Edward Burch, Herman Burch, Joe Burch, Claude Fox and Robert Fox; and four sisters, Lela Murphy, Irene Wigley, Georgia Bell Brantley and Lula Bell Fox.

Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Christell Pemberton Fox; a son, Billy Wayne Shelby and wife Gail of Wilmar; four daughters, Sheryl Thomas and husband Charles of Plain Dealing, La., Barbara Manes and husband James and Patricia Goggans and husband Gary, all of Monticello, and Joyce Chapman and husband John of Houston, Ark., two sisters, Marie Priest of Phoenix, Ariz., and Pauline Barnett of Monticello; and seven grandchildren.

Funeral services were held November 25 at Stephenson- Dearman Funeral Home with the Rev. Bobby Spencer officiating. Burial was at Oakland Cemetery with Masonic rites.

Pallbearers were Wayne Fox, Bobby Farley, Wayne Young, Ernest Fox, Jim DeFir and Larry Williamson.
