Virginia Sue Moser Pate, 81, Bloomington, IN transitioned from this life on August 26, 2021 after a valiant battle with congestive heart failure. Sue was born November 21, 1939 in Bloomington, IN.

She was a lifelong Bloomington resident, proud member of the Bloomington High School Class of 1957, and an IVY Tech Technical Certificate graduate.

She was predeceased by her parents, Julius "Jude" E. Moser and Virginia Garner Moser of Bloomington, her paternal grandparents, Dr. Joseph E. Moser and Aurelia Pearl Breeden Moser of Bloomington, IN, and her maternal grandparents Dr. Frank Baldwin Garner and Jesse Virginia Whitney Garner Bush of Muncie, IN. Also, preceding her in death were her brother, Joseph G. Moser, infant sister, Barbara Moser, and former husband, Keith W. Pate.

Sue is survived by her daughter, Tina Theuerkauf (Dan) of Gloucester, VA, son, Greg Pate (Debbie) of Gastonia, NC, and son, Brad Pate (Mari Lynn) of Etters, PA. She is also survived by seven grandchildren, Dr. Ethan Theuerkauf (Kristen) of Williamston, MI, Dr. Seth Theuerkauf (Katelyn) of Arlington, VA, Elliott Theuerkauf of Richmond, VA, Joshua Pate (Micah) of Indian Land, SC, Ashley Pate Hudson (Mark), Isle of Palms, SC, Justin Pate of Clover, SC, and Senior Airman Keith Pate of Etters, PA. She is survived by six great-grandchildren, nieces, Marcie Moser and Janet Moser Corbin, and her beloved Pate family in-laws.

Sue had a long and varied working career. During the 1960's when her children were young, she opened and operated one of only two fully licensed Bloomington in-home daycare facilities. In the early 1970's she was employed as a secretary in the Indiana University Graduate School of Arts and Sciences. During its inception, she was the Student Records Clerk for the Indiana University School of Public and Environmental Affairs. In the late 1970's, she worked as secretary for W. Carl Jackson, Indiana University's Dean of Libraries. She also worked as an apartment Rental Consultant in Bloomington and Tampa, Florida. She was employed in the retailing business with the Kings' Shop, L.S. Ayres, and Macy's in Bloomington.
She was most recently employed in the insurance industry as a licensed insurance agent with Calllaway Allstate Insurance, and at the age of 76, retired from Bloom Insurance selling Medicare Advantage Plans. She was well versed in all aspects of insurance and enjoyed sharing her knowledge. Sue had a large circle of very special friends whom she referred to as her extended family. She relied upon them and they relied upon her. Several years ago, seeing a need, she organized a bountiful, annual potluck Thanksgiving dinner for her extended family and their guests. She cared deeply and advocated for individuals impacted by addiction to alcohol and drugs, homelessness, poverty, and domestic violence. She was an empathetic listener and consoler. She truly never met a stranger and loved to learn each person's individual story. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends, all of whom were blessed to have had her in their lives.

Due to COVID-19, Sue's funeral service will be private. Her eulogy will be delivered by Reverend Danny Hillenburg. Allen Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements.
