John "Rob" Robertson Schmidt, 61, of Medina, Ohio passed away on Tuesday, July 27, 2021. He was born on April 15, 1960 in Welland, Ontario Canada. Rob was a master craftsman who had a passion for restoring his historic Medina home and classic cars. He was meticulous gardener where many fond memories were made with friends and family enjoying his beautiful landscaping. He will be deeply missed by his loving parents Leonard and Patricia Schmidt; step-daughter Amanda; two siblings; and his treasured cats and birds who lived like kings. He was a dear friend to many and he will be missed by those who knew him best. Friends and family may call on Friday, August 6, 2021 from 2-4 PM at Sunset Chapel, 6245 Columbia Road, North Olmsted, Ohio 44070. A memorial service will follow at 4:00 PM at the chapel. Rob will be privately laid to rest in Sunset Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 22478 Oklahoma City, OK 73123. Donations will be processed through the main office in Oklahoma and then donated to the local American Cancer Society corresponding with the zip code on the donation envelope.
