Born in Wittenburg, Sachsen-Anhalt, Preussen, Germany. Wife of Wilhelm Heinrich Dunckelman, whom she married in 1834, at the age of 19. They emigrated to America, settling for a short while in Pittsburg, Pennsylvania, where she gave birth to her first child, Wilhelm, in 1835, named after his father. They moved to Nashville, Tennessee where Rosia had her second son, Heinrich, in 1838, also named after his father. After moving to Athens, Alabama, they had a third son, Johann, in 1840. They returned to Nashville, where they had their first girl, Hanchen Loiese, in 1842. Mary Frances arrived in 1844, followed by Charles Augustus in 1848 and Amelia Tennessee in 1850. They decided to settle in Louisiana, and chose Natchitoches, where, in 1855, Rosia gave birth to Wilhelmina Henrietta, with Walter Scott arriving in 1858.
