Anders Andersson was born in Sweden. He was one of eight children of Anders Olofson. He Grew to manhood in the forests of ostervala and westmanland, Sweden. He married his first wife Ann Anderdotter on December 28, 1853, she was born on Aug 10, 1827 the daughter of Anders Errson and Cathrina Olsdotter of Sweden. She died on January 1, 1875 in Nora Parrish, Sweden.
Anders was frugal man. He work hard. As the family grew it became even more difficult to make ends meet.
Their religious training was administered by the local Lutheran priest.
From the time of his birth there were stories coming from across the sea about the unlimited land available. In the 1860's railroads, especially the union Pacific, advertised widely, free land available for the taking. One hundred sixty acres absolutely free. All you must do is improve the land, build a residence, stay for 3 years and it is yours. What an opportunity! Land in Sweden was practically not available for peasants.
As Anders's sons become of age each will be required to serve in the army for three years. None of the peasants relished this. The army served the pleasure of the noblemen. So, as his oldest son Andrew grew closer to this age, they began to formulate a plan to begin to move from Sweden. Sweden did not block anyone from leaving. The major hurdle was raising finances to buy passage. There was no way all could leave together. Just not enough money. So they sent there children on ahead. It would take 9 years until they would all be reunited once again as a family in America.
Anders Andersson and his second wife Margaret an two children John and axel emigrated to America in 1885 where they were united with four out of five of there sons in Elm creek Nebraska. Per Erik (Pete) was thrown off of a train in Nevada while on his way to meet up with his brothers in Nebraska. His burial site is unknown.
