Kenneth Ross Mingus went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, August 28, 2021 peacefully at his residence in Bethlehem, NC. Born March 9, 1946 in Catawba County, he was the son of the late Ross Boyd Mingus and Ruth Margaret Benfield Mingus. Ken was an active member of Grace Baptist Church in Bethlehem, receiving Jesus Christ as his Savior in 1999. He spent the rest of his life unconditionally loving, giving, and serving the Lord. He was the owner/operator of Expert Chattahoochee for 42 years. His passions were providing for his family, working hard, loving on and playing with his grandchildren; but most importantly giving testimony to the Lord's Saving Grace. Ken is and will always be loved and dearly missed.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by son, Kenneth Mingus, Jr; grandson, Rayden Mingus; and siblings, Marie Holt, Jack Mingus, James Mingus, Charles Mingus, Red Moore and Blonde Martin.
Kenneth is survived by his wife of 54 years, Diane Delores Edwards Mingus; sons, Kevin Mingus and Jerry Mingus and wife Jackie; daughters, Kathy George and husband Tim and Crystal Wilkins and husband, Travis; sister, Margaret Hefner; 13 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; and step-sons, Andy Sprouse and wife Joy and Jody Sprouse and wife Donna. A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 2, 2021 at Grace Baptist Church in Bethlehem with Pastors Mark Bumgarner and Phil Chapman officiating. Burial will follow in Catawba Memorial Park in Hickory.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. to 1:45 p.m. prior to the service at the church.
Pallbearers honoring Mr. Mingus will be Shannon Edwards, Scott Edwards, Zion Mingus, Donovan Mingus, Kenny Sprouse and Jason Edwards. Honorary pallbearers will be John Roland, Zachary Campbell, Jimmy Hefner and Gwyn Wallace.
