Lorraine Oriett (nee Dobbe) Richardson was born May 11, 1927 to Sanford and Pearl (Wagley) Dobbe in northwestern Iowa. She spent her early years living on a number of farms right along either side of the Iowa-South Dakota border. Lorraine was a graduate of Huxley High School, Huxley, Iowa and Waldorf College in Forest City, Iowa. She also received a Bachelor of Arts in Music Education from Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa and a Master of Music Education from California State University in Northridge, California. She was a music teacher in Story City, Iowa for 5 years and upon moving to California in 1957, taught in the Los Angeles City Schools for 25 years. She was often commissioned for paintings in sizes ranging from miniature to 8 feet long, various subject matters in both traditional and abstract, and using many mediums. There are more than 400 of her painting displayed around the world. She was a member of West Valley Artist's Association, Scandinavian-American Art Society, the Beverly Hills Art League, and the San Fernando Valley Art Club. Lorraine also authored a book titled "To Climb the Barn".

Lorraine passed away November 19, 2012 in Northridge, California at 85 years of age.

Lorraine is survived by her husband, LaVerne Richardson of Granada Hills, California, and was preceded in death her parents; and her sister, Dorothy Ann Wallize.

In lieu of flowers, memorial may be designated to Bethany Lutheran Church in Kelley, Iowa or Palestine Lutheran Church in Huxley, Iowa.
