ELEANOR W. (WIDENER) LOONEY passed away Thursday, August 26, 2021, at the Buchanan General Hospital, following an extended illness.
Born in Wyco, WV, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Alta (Breeding) Widener.
She was a longtime resident of Buchanan County and was a member of Vansant Church of Christ. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great great-grandmother, and an Assistant Librarian for Buchanan County for 30 years. She loved her flowers, to read, quilting, working in the garden, and loved her church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Edd Looney; 3-brothers: Charles, Don, and Bill Widener; 2-sisters: Shirley Crump and Jeanine Schmidt.
Those left to cherish her memory include her, son: Danny (Brenda) Looney, Deskins, VA; 2-daughters: Carol Underwood Huffman, Norton, VA, Cheryl (Terry) Ratliff, Vansant, VA; 4-grandchildren: Shannon Steffey, Christy Rose, Joe Ratliff, Dwayne Ratliff.
Also survived by 10-great grandchildren, 9 great great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services for ELEANOR W. (WIDENER) LOONEY will be conducted Sunday, August 29, 2021, at 2:00 P.M. at the Grundy Funeral Home Chapel with Pastore Mike Rife officiating. Burial to follow in the Looney Family Cemetery on Deskins, near Vansant, VA.
