Blessings include two daughters: Terre (Paul) Martin and Christi (Ron) Bridenbaugh; son Tim (Peggie) Burns, all of Chillicothe; grandchildren: Ryan (Karen) Martin NP, Jamie (Ryan) Miles, Joe Bridenbaugh and Char (Ryan) McNamara; great-grandchildren: Gabby Wharton, Chloe, Petiah and Sophie Martin, Teagan and Sawyer Miles, Macy and Austin Bridenbaugh, Taylor and Caleb McNamara, and Ashley Goodling; surviving siblings Jack (Linda) Burns, Bonnie Burns, and Denise (Harold) Ramsey, all of Chillicothe; and many nieces and nephews.
Bob was a 1954 graduate of Huntington High School where he enjoyed playing basketball and running track, making it to State his senior year. From age 11, he grew up on the farm on Easterday Road. Coming from a large family had its downfalls and lessons learned. Bob loved circus peanuts candy and to keep the other kids from eating them all, he would hide them. One day, he left them on the tractor seat and the cow ate them!
He learned early in life the benefits of hard work and dedication. After graduation, he was hired by the Chillicothe Telephone Co. as a lineman and quickly worked his way up to Supervisor over Repair. He retired in 1989 following 35 years of service. When life presented him a problem or situation, he would set his mind to solving it. He would look at it from all angles and before long he had the answer. Bob was a people person and especially enjoyed talking phone company with his brother Jack or the many other friends he worked with. In his younger days, he and Thelma enjoyed trips to the beach.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents; brother Bill Burns; sisters Betty Conley, Marge Wills and Jeanette Oates; and beloved furry friends Ginger and Sammy.
Private funeral service for the family and close friends will be held Monday at Haller Funeral Home with Pastor Jack Norman officiating. Burial will follow in Grandview Cemetery. The family asks that those invited wear facial coverings.
