Cecil Roy Dick Jr.
Roy was born February 8th 1942, in Claremore, OK the son of Cherokee Master Artist and National Treasure Cecil Dick and Pansy (Burris) Dick. He died in Tulsa, OK, from complications related to the Covid-19 virus.
At an early age he found the guitar and this became his passion. He had attended Oaks Mission School before his family moved to Hawthorn, California, where he attended Leuzinger High. At the age of 20 he married Beverly Roberts and soon became father to three Children, David, Theresa, and Kimberly. Their home was in Santa Maria, CA, and surrounding towns. Roy was widowed in 1968. In 1970 he married Diana Jones, combining two families bringing children Lynn, Lisa, Charles, and James. Together they added another child, Darlene, making them a family of 10.
Moving to Fresno, CA, he had worked as a heavy equipment mechanic in the fields of the San Joaquin Valley. He serviced and repaired diesel equipment in Fruit and vegetable processing houses. To supplement income, weekends would find him in the garage rebuilding motors and transmissions. His skills and desire to play guitar found him in many bands on weekend nights.
In 1982 he followed his heart and brought his family to Tahlequah, OK, to be near his father. While continuing to raise a family, he worked various jobs, finally finding suitable employment at Diamond Head Resort.
He married Evelyn Trammel in the community of Eldon on Nov. 8, 2004. They made their home on top of Boudinot Hill, at Welling. He was a loving and caring husband taking care of all her needs. They began their marriage with a Bible study every morning and that continued all the days of their marriage.
His love of guitar and fine harmonies led him to Gospel Singings. His skills as a musician, guitar, steel guitar, and electric bass found him playing at Gospel Singings locally and across state lines.
Roy and Evelyn were members of Welling General Baptist Church where they attended regularly.
Preceding him in death was his first wife Beverly.
