Rita Gandert Schroeder, age 90, a beloved lady of faith and grace passed away in Albuquerque on Thursday, August 19, 2021.
Rita was a devoted wife, mother, grandma, sister and friend.
Rita was a registered nurse and nurse administrator for 55 years.
Rita was born in Chacón, New Mexico on July 9, 1931.
Rita graduated from Mora High School and went on to the Regina School of Nursing in Albuquerque where she graduated on August 31, 1958. Rita also received her Master of Science degree from the College of St. Francis in May of 1985.
Rita met and married the love of her life, William C. Schroeder, USMC Ret. on November 26, 1960. They had many grand adventures together and raised one son, Charles. They were married 49 years until her beloved Marine went home to Heaven on September 4, 2009.
Rita is survived by her sister, Martha (Dick Markwood), son, Charles Schroeder and his wife, Karen, grandchildren, William, and Sophie and many other loving family members.
A Celebration of Life will be held at French-Wyoming, Albuquerque, NM on September 15, 2021 at 7:00 p.m. A Rosary at 9:30 a.m. and Mass at 10:00 a.m. will be held on September 16, 2021, at Prince of Peace Catholic Community, 12500 Carmel Ave. NE, Albuquerque, NM. Interment to follow at Santa Fé National Cemetery, Santa Fé, NM. Masks and social distancing should be followed, as appropriate.
Rita will be greatly missed, however, she will remain in our hearts and her legacy will continue to be a positive influence in our lives.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Good Shepherd Center at PO Box 749, Albuquerque, NM 87103.
