He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War and also served in the U.S. Army with the 82nd Airborne Division ASA Paratrooper. During his military service Kenneth received the Korean Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal, China Service Medal and Navy Occupation Service Medal. He was employed as a Union Ironworker and was a member of Ironworkers Union Local #46. He then was owner and operator of Shores Water Hauling. He loved animals especially his dog, Babe. He also enjoyed stockcar, motorcycle, gokart and Nascar racing. He loved welding, iron working, fabricating, landscaping and old tractors.
He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by three sons: Kenneth Richard Shores, James A. Shores and Albert Shores all of Springfield; four daughters: Kimberly L. (husband, Steven) Rebbe of Petersburg, Patricia K. Flemming of Springfield, Kimberly R. Davis of Tovey, Vivian Hazzard of Virginia; several grandchildren; one aunt: Frances Shores of Virden and several cousins.
Cremation accorded by Cremation Tribute Center. Memorial Services at Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home with Scott Brindley officiating. Burial in Camp Butler National Cemetery where the Interveterans Burial Detail of Sangamon County will conduct military honors.
