Mrs. Joyce Alexander Bennett was born in Lufkin, TX. on August 29, 1956. She grew up and attended Lufkin Public Schools. She later met and married Alton E. Bennett on August 29, 1975. To this union was born one child, Latika Jenkins. Mrs. Bennett was a devoted wife, Ioving mother, and a loving grandmother to her grandson and bonus grandkids.
She was an active member of her church, New Zion Temple of Deliverance, formerly New Zion Baptist Church. Her passions included cooking, loving and spoiling her family and friends. Joyce was employed by Pearl's Kitchen, Lufkin State School-Canteen. and JD'S Center of Hope, formerly The Hope Center of North Lufkin.
She leaves to mourn her memory her husband, Alton Bennett; daughter, Latika Jenkins, grandson, Trevaun Jenkins; brothers, Elvis Alexander and Archie Alexander; uncle,
McStarling (Sallie) Alexander; aunt, Dorothy (the late Henry) Prentice; nephews. Jamar and Symone Phillips; great nieces and nephews, Shanquasha, Cedric, Jayda, Olivia, Jabril, Dabravion, Josiah and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Doris Alexander, grandparents, Lee and Mary Bell Alexander, aunts, uncles, cousins and two of her best friends.
To know Joyce was to love her. Her kind spirit and her giving heart will live on!
