Little Falls—Miss Zaida Zoller, 97, of 553 Garden Street, passed away Tuesday evening at her residence where she was born.
She was born July 22, 1882, a daughter of the late Jacob and Mary Dygert Zoller, and had resided in Little Falls all her life. Miss Zoller was a twin sister of the late Honorable Judge Abram Zoller of Herkimer, who passed away in May of 1962. She was the last surviving member of the Jacob Zoller family. Miss Zoller received her education in the Little Falls School System and was a graduate of the Burnham School in North Hampton, Massachusetts. She was also a graduate of Miss Hewitt's school in New York City in the Class of 1902. The deceased was one of the founders of the Herkimer County Humane Society which was chartered in February of 1913. She was honorary president of the society and was a very active member all her life. She was owner and manager of several farms in the Little Falls area in conjunction with her love for animals and nature. Miss Zoller was the recipient of the Staff Sergeant Steve Stefula Post #4612 Little Falls VFW Citizenship award in 1957. She was very active in the Feminists and Suffrage Movement during WWI. She was a member of the St. Paul's Universalist Church in Little Falls and at one time taught Sunday School there for many years. She also served on the Church Board of Trustees and had been a very active member of the church for many years. The deceased was a former member of the American Red Cross, which she was very active in. She was a member and served one term as regent of the [?] Chapter #173 DAR, Little Falls. Miss Zoller kept abreast of the times, observing the many changes not only in the working world in general but also in the community in which she had actively participated for many years of her life.
She is survived by three nephews, Attorney John J. Zoller of Little Falls, Attorney Louis W. Zoller of Orlando, Florida and J. L. Hoffman of Kingman, Arizona; also one sister-in-law, Mrs. Abram (Muriel) Zoller of Herkimer; several grand-nieces and grand-nephews.
Funeral services will be held Friday morning at 11 o'clock from the Chapman Funeral Home, 42 North Ann Street, Little Falls, with the Rev. Howard B. Gilman, pastor of St. Paul's Universalist Church, officiating. Interment will take place in the family plot at Fairview Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, it is the wishes of the family that contributions be made to the Herkimer County Humane Society or St. Paul's Universalist Church Memorial Fund in memory of Miss Zoller.
