Barbara Ann Higgins was born on February 25, 1956, in Minneapolis, Minnesota to James and Ruth (Bengston) Higgins. Barb attended Fergus Falls High School and earned her GED. She worked for different stores cashiering and waitressing around the Fergus Falls area. Barb moved to Alexandria in 1985 where she opened up a craft shop called the Tourist Trap.

Barb enjoyed crocheting baby blankets, quilting, working on crafts and making candles. She enjoyed watching wrestling and racing on tv with her grandchildren, and playing tag with her cat, Zoe. Barb also loved having coffee with friends and family. She loved life and was well known for her big heart, great sense of humor and her feisty and stubborn personality.

Barb was called to her heavenly home on Monday, August 23, 2021, at Sanford Heath in Fargo, ND at the age of 65. She is survived by her daughters, Melissa (Bob) Bettschen of Brainerd and Jessica Higgins of Alexandria; six grandchildren, Brandon Dunford, Kendra Bost, Eli Higgins, Sage Higgins, Gideon Bettschen, and Elizabeth Bettschen; two great-grandchildren, Arianna and Benjamin Bost; sister, Betty Dixon of Canton, IL; and many nieces and nephews. Barb is preceded in death by her daughter, Heather Higgins; parents, James and Ruth; and brother, John Higgins.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held 1:00 PM on Friday, September 10, 2021, at the Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria. Visitation will be held for one hour prior the service at the funeral home.
