Jim was born December 26th, 1939 to the late James Lee Norton Sr. and Alice Beaver Norton in Charlotte, NC. He spent many years as "Coach Norton" coaching football and teaching health before retiring to spend his time traveling, playing golf, fishing, and enjoying his family. He packed as much as he could into his lifetime, seeing the world, including trips to Africa and Australia. He also enjoyed the beach and spent as much time as possible on the coast.
Left behind to honor his memory and legacy are his wife, Sue Norton, sons James Lee III "Trip" Norton (Debbie) and Sean Norton (Tara), a granddaughter, Heather (David) Whitley, a grandson, James "Lee" Norton IV and wife Mariah and a great-granddaughter, Zoey Crayton. He is also survived by his treasured brother and sister, Jack and Sally Norton and many other relatives and friends who loved him.
He was proceeded in death by a wife, Annette Davis Norton and son Kevin Norton.
He asked that no formal services be held and the family wishes to honor his request. In lieu of flowers, please honor Jim by enjoying your time on this earth, living life to the fullest as he sought to do for his entire 81 years or by making a donation to Hospice of Stanly and the Uwharrie in his memory.
