ROGERS, Barbara Ann, 87, of Lexington, Kentucky, died on August 25, 2021 at her home. Barbara was born in Cloverport, KY in 1934, one of nine children of Earl and Bernadette Beavin. In addition to her parents, Barbara was predeceased by three sisters, Margaret, Rita and Anna Laura; and by three brothers, Bernard, Vince, and Larry. She also was predeceased by her husband, Percy, who without question was her best friend and truly her soul mate. Barbara is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Joe and Margo Beavin; two grandchildren, Matt Beavin (Katherine) of Greenville, SC, and Angie Carney (Brent) of Lexington, KY; great-grandchildren, Grady, Boyd, Sage and Baker; sisters, Rose and Doris; and numerous nieces and nephews. During the last years of her life, Barbara had moved to Lexington to be close to her son, Joe. Prior to that, she and Percy had lived in Meade County, KY for several years before returning to Cloverport, where they both grew up, to enjoy their retirement years together. Barbara was retired from the U.S. Postal Service, but continued to stay involved. She served on the Board of Education for the Cloverport city schools for several years and was always assisting in matters at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church. During all of those years, Barbara was an outgoing person, always greeting folks with a smile and reassuring all of those around her with her positive attitude. She opened her home to all, including serving as a foster parent with Percy on numerous occasions. Simply put, she was a kind and caring woman. Those who knew Barbara were certain of two things about her: she treasured her family and her Catholic faith was a constant. Her siblings were important to her throughout her life. She was always proud of her son, Joe, and looked upon his wife Margo as though she was her own daughter. Grandchildren, Matt and Angie were a never-ending source of joy for her, and she was so happy to be able to watch them as they started their own families. Whether at St. John the Apostle in Brandenburg, St. Rose in Cloverport, or Mary Queen of the Holy Rosary in Lexington, the parish of which she was a member at the time of her death, Barbara lived the tenets of her Catholic faith, and she was comforted by and felt secure with them. Visitation will be 10:00 am EDT on Monday, August 30 at Mary, Queen of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Lexington with the funeral services commencing at 11:00 am at the church, officiated by Father Dan Noll. In accordance with the church's current COVID protocols, masks are required while inside the church. Burial will be at Old Saint Rose Cemetery in Cloverport. Meet at Cloverport Funeral Home at 2:45 pm CDT on Monday to proceed to the cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Saint Rose of Lima Catholic Church or Mary, Queen of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church.
