Betty McBride, 91, of Jacksonville, passed away on August 24, 2021. She was born in Supply, AR, on February 13, 1930. She graduated from Maynard High School in 1949 and later graduated from Draughan's School of Business in Little Rock. She worked in the Arkansas Children's Hospital business office for several years but eventually became a stay-at-home mom raising her two children. Years later, she re-entered the workforce as an employee of the Arkansas Department of Finance and Administration and remained there until her retirement.
Betty was an outgoing, humorous, and compassionate person. She dearly loved her family and friends. She was always finding ways to reach people through her acts of kindness and witty sense of humor. Betty also believed it was much better to administer good deeds to others than accept them. Her favorite hobby by far was traveling. She was fortunate to visit almost all the United States, Canada, Mexico, and France. She also enjoyed singing. So much so that she and one of her dearest friends, Rosemary, made a studio record in 1954. Betty had a solid Christian upbringing, and she carried her faith and values with her throughout her life. She was a member of the Mabelvale Church of Christ in Little Rock.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Maudie Stout, and her husband, Quinton McBride. She is survived by her son, Stephen, and daughter, Leah. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, August 28, 2021, at McNabb Funeral Home in Pocahontas, AR. Burial will follow at Ingram Cemetery in Maynard, AR. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Arkansas Children's Hospital.
