Christopher Kermit "Chris" Walker, 60 of Harbor Springs, died unexpectedly on August 20, 2021 at his home.
Chris was born on July 7, 1961 in Ypsilanti, MI, the son of Jerry and Nancy (Marshall) Walker and lived in various places in his youth before returning to Harbor Springs with his family in 1976 and graduating from the Harbor Springs High School with the Class of 1979. Following high school, Chris started, owned and operated Walker's Maintenance, which were always identifiable because of the purple vans.
Chris was a former member of the Harbor Springs American Legion Drum and Bugle Corps. He loved to read and watch movies and could frequently be found on his golf course he made in his front yard.
Chris was a true people person. He knew EVERYONE and it seemed as if everyone knew him. He loved people, had a playful attitude, and was a real fun person to be around, but at the same time, was very giving and cared deeply for the people around him. He will be greatly missed by all those that knew him.
He is survived by 2 daughters, Amanda (Benjamin) Smolinski of Abilene, TX and Lyndsay Walker of Petoskey; his parents, Jerry and Nancy Walker; 2 siblings, Jim (Laura) Walker of Oak Park, MI and Susan Walker of Harbor Springs and by his grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his companion of over 15 years, Roxanne Wemigwase in 2017.
A funeral service will be held at the Stutsmanville Chapel in Harbor Springs on Thursday at 11am. The Family will receive friends at the church from 10am until the time of service. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery.
Arrangements are in the care of the Stone Funeral Home of Petoskey.
