Sam Green Jr. was born on September 10, 1921, in Winnsboro, Louisiana. Sam was the second oldest of thirteen children. 


Sam accepted Christ at an early age at Augusta Church in Winnsboro, LA. After graduating high school, Sam enlisted in the United States Army. In 1940, he served in World War II with his brother. While serving in the Army, Sam became a Lieutenant General and a Demolition Specialist. Sam also received a Purple Heart Medal after being wounded in World War II. 


Sam later moved to Chicago Heights, Illinois, where he met the love of his life and they joined together in holy matrimony in 1952. To this union they had ten children. 


Sam worked many jobs in his lifetime, but his biggest job was being a leader and role model to his family. He loved to fix and build things. Sam was the handyman of his family. He loved teaching his sons and grandsons how to create anything. Sam was a member of Christ Temple #2 Church and enjoyed praying and talking with his Pastor Walter Futrell on Sundays. 


He loved spending time with his family. Sam was very strong minded, compassionate, and always helped others. In his spare time, he loved watching western movies and his Chicago Bears. Throughout his life he inspired and touched many hearts. Sam was the father you never had in his community. Everyone loved and enjoyed him. 


On Wednesday, August 18, 2021, Sam Green Jr. was called home by the Lord. He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, siblings, two sons and one granddaughter.
