Daughter of Pearley Dixon and Georgia Estelle Martin Richardson, wife of Donald Belk Collins.

MULLINS - Mrs. Margaret Richardson Collins, 88, widow of Don B. Collins, Sr., was welcomed into the kingdom of Heaven on the morning of Tuesday, August 24, 2021, after a brief illness at McLeod Loris Hospital.

Margaret, a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, a friend to many, and overall a true Southern Lady, was born in Marion County, South Carolina on April 21, 1933, a daughter to the late Pearlie Richardson and the late Georgia Martin Richardson. Mrs. Collins was a homemaker and Co-Owner of Cox-Collins Funeral Home in Mullins. When she wasn't tending to the home front or helping at the Funeral Home, Mrs. Collins could be found in a front office surrounded by the sweet smell of tobacco inside a warehouse working for the Mullins Tobacco Market, dedicating twenty years to the Farm Service Agency, where her and her fellow working ladies were known as the "Government Girls." Win or lose, she was a die-hard Atlanta Braves fan, giving the coaches and umpires what-for through her television when they didn't get things done as she thought they should. She was a member of the Flora Bunda Garden Club, also Margaret loved to travel when she could with her girlfriends, taking in the sights of different places, tasting new dishes, and overall enjoying the friendships she had with her friends. Mrs. Collins was a member of the Mullins First Baptist Church, and a member of the Fidelis Sunday School Class.

Mrs. Collins is survived by a son, Don B. Collins, Jr. (Pam) of Mullins; a daughter, Leesa Collins McRae (Charles) of Mullins; 6 grandchildren; and 12 great grandchildren.

Margaret was predeceased by four brothers, Earl (Jewel) Richardson, Clyde "Possum" (Mary Lib) Richardson, Aubrey (Sue) Williams, Harry (Ella) Williams; and a sister, Estelle (L.H.) Tucker.

The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, August 27, in the Sanctuary of Mullins First Baptist Church, with Rev. Robbie Baxley, Rev. Chase McRae, and Rev. Stephen D. Bailey (graveside) officiating, and directed by Cox-Collins Funeral Home of Mullins.

Mrs. Collins will be entombed in a private family committal service at Red Hill Memorial Gardens Cemetery Mausoleum.

Due to the rise of Covid again, for the safety of all involved, please wear masks while in attendance at the church during the visitation and the service, and please adhere to the Church's Covid guidelines while on the premise.

The service will be livestreamed on the Facebook page of Cox-Collins Funeral Home and the Mullins First Baptist Church. A guestbook is available on the Cox-Collins Funeral Home website.
