AGE 84 YEARS
Leroy C. "Smitty" Smith of Somerville and Wells Beach, Maine. Passed away on August 21st. Born in Cambridge on February 10, 1937, Smitty was the cherished husband and best friend of Janis (Smith) for 29 years. Beloved father of Stephen (Denise); Kimberly (Michael) Casey of Billerica; Michelle (Kevin) McCarthy of Kensington, NH; Leroy (Timothea) of Dover, NH; and Scott (Ann) also of Billerica. Treasured GPa of 10 grandchildren. Survived by in-laws.
Was predeceased by his parents Leroy C. Sr. and Annie (Livingston); sisters Lillian Keating; Beverly (Herb) Hathaway and Marjorie Smith.
He will be dearly missed by many nieces, nephews and lifelong friends who enjoyed his mischievous shenanigans; so many of them to treasure.
Smitty was a proud and well-respected member of the Sheet Metal Workers Union, Local 17, celebrating 60 years of service in 2018. Before joining the Union, he honorably served in the U.S. Air Force Reserves. Also, Smitty was an avid golfer .
Funeral Procession from the George L. Doherty Funeral Home, 855 Broadway (Powder House Sq.), SOMERVILLE, Monday morning at 10:00, followed by a Funeral Mass in St. John Church, Cambridge at 11:00. Interment Mt. Auburn Cemetery, Cambridge.
