Herbert was born in Brooklyn, New York on March 24, 1951 to the late Charles Herbert and Rosa Lee Hargett Thompson.
He spent most of his life in the United States Air Force before his retirement. An avid fisherman, he also could play a mean game of racquetball. He was a loyal "12th man" for the Seattle Seahawks and enjoyed playing Madden NFL on his Xbox.
He is survived by his wife, Remedios V. "Sonia" Thompson; son, Herbert V. Thompson; daughter, Alaina S. Ankrom; brothers, Keith Thompson and Kenan Thompson; and sister, Zasandra Bell.
At the family's request, Herbert will be laid to rest at a private graveside service at Magnolia Park Cemetery with military honors.
