Richard was born in Purcell on November 23, 1930, to Leslie Foster Gray and Louise (Camden) Gray. Richard moved from this life to his next life on Monday, morning August 23, 2021. He was a life-long Dragon, graduating from Purcell High School in I948. He married the love of his life, Helen Jackson, and their union produced two sons, Richard Camden Gray Jr. and Kurt Lee Gray.
Richard attended the University of Oklahoma and graduated with a Doctorate in Pharmacy. He served his country as a member the U.S. Army Reserves and retired with the rank of Colonel.
Richard and his partner, Joe Krapf owned and operated Kennedy Drug from 1957-1976. Richard and Helen then owned and operated United Drug until their retirement.
Richard and Helen were Dragon and Sooner fans, traveling across Oklahoma to watch their sons and grandsons and across the country to watch the Sooners.

Richard was preceded in death by the love of this life, wife, Helen Gray; his parents, Leslie and Lorene Gray and Joe and Louise Jody. And is survived by two sons, Richard Jr. of Purcell and Kurt and his wife, Susan of Purcell. Three grandsons, Andrew, his wife Erielle and their boys, Sawyer and Owen of Broken Arrow. Mitchell, his wife, Taylor, and their boys, Ledger and Jagger of Purcell. Ethan and his wife Cheyenne of Tulsa, brother Sam Gray his wife Cindy and their children, brother Tom Gray and his wife Sherri and their children, his brother Phil Jody and his wife Christine and their children, and sister Nancy Loyd and her husband Henry and their children.

Visitation with be from 4:00 to 6:00 pm Thursday, August 26 at Wilson-Little Funeral Home in Purcell. Memorial service will be held at 10:00 am Friday, August 27 at First Baptist Church in Purcell, followed by graveside services at Purcell's Hillside Cemetery.
