Robert Slaughter, age 86, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 15, 2021.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, August 26 at 11 am at New Vision Full Gospel Baptist Church, 100 Warrington Pl, East Orange, NJ 07017. Visitation is on Thursday from 10 am until time of services. Interment will be held at Fairmount Cemetery, Newark. Arrangements entrusted to Woody "Home for Services" of Orange, NJ.
Born in Newark, NJ, Robert resided in East Orange for many years and was employed with the East Orange Fire Department for 29 years before retirement. He was also an Army veteran and served for six years with the Army Reserves. Robert was the beloved husband of Rose Slaughter, loving father of Rochelle, Dorothy and Robbin Slaughter, cherished grandfather of Geoffrey Ferrell, dear brother-in-law of Sarah Slaughter and Barbara Ingram. He is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations in his memory be made to the American Parkinson's Diseases Association, 1 Robert Wood Johnson Pl, New Brunswick, NJ 08901.
