Born August 6, 1933, in Colquitt County, Mrs. Gibbs was the daughter of the late William Ira Howell and Pauline Sumner Howell. She was also preceded in death by one infant son, Steven Sanders Gibbs; and two sisters, Rhudene Hayes and Betty Rose Castagna. Before retiring, she worked at the First Community Bank in Tifton for 25 years. She was a member of Tifton's First Baptist Church.
Mrs. Gibbs is survived by her husband, Wallace Gibbs of Tifton; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Michael Gibbs of Tifton and Dr. Chris and Melissa Gibbs of Augusta; and five grandchildren, Grant Sanders Gibbs and his fiance' Morgan Barber, Caroline Gibbs O'Neil and her husband Jack, Jon Christopher Gibbs, Jr., Isabelle Graham Gibbs and Graham Sanders Gibbs.
