James Richard Flowers, 82, a resident of Harrison, died Monday, August 23, 2021, at Cox Medical Center in Springfield, Missouri. His wife, Shirley Ann Flowers, died the same day at Cox Medical Center in Springfield.

He was born April 13, 1939, in Stuttgart. He married Miss Shirly Ann Martin on July 21, 1960, at Harahan, Louisiana. He was a United States Army veteran who loved his country and it's flag. He was a truck driver for many years before joining the Boone County Sheriff's Department, where he was a work crew supervisor. He enjoyed restoring antique automobiles, watching westerns on television, and he attended the Batavia Assembly of God.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Charles Flowers; and three sisters.

Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, James Richard "Ricky" Jr. and Kathy Flowers of Albany, Louisiana and Randy and Desiree Flowers of Harrison; three daughters and sons-in-law, Robyn Flowers and Israel Flores of Tomball, Texas, Ranee' and Dwayne Keller of French Settlement, Louisiana, and Raelyn and Russ Watkins of Robertsdale, Alabama; 11 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; four sisters, Christine, Maxine, Lois, and Lucille; and other relatives and friends.

A double funeral for James and Shirley will be at 2 p.m. on Friday, August 27, 2021, at Holt Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Ryan Keller and the Rev. Phillip C. Collie II officiating. Burial with military honors provided by the Boone County Sheriff's Department will be in Maplewood Cemetery at Harrison under the direction of Holt Memorial Chapel.

Pallbearers will be officers from the Boone County Sheriff's Department.

Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until service time on Thursday at the funeral home.
