CALVIN MAC MONTGOMERY

Calvin Mac Montgomery, 88, of Frisco, TX passed away on Sunday, August 22, 2021 and was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.

On a farm in Nolan County, Texas, Mac was born March 5, 1933 to John Calvin "Cal" and Lillie Lee (McReynolds) Montgomery. Mac married Zelma Jane Montgomery (Wood) on February 1, 1956 and recently celebrated 65 years together.

Mac's service in the U.S. Army, which took him to Korea, was a prelude to his lifelong commitment as a public servant. He embarked on a career in law enforcement, and spent 13 years with the Sweetwater (TX) Police Department. He served for 23 years with the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission (TABC), where he later retired in 1991 as the Assistant Chief of Enforcement. He remained active with the TABC Retired Officers Association throughout his retirement.

Mac enjoyed a long, wonderful retirement. While living at Cedar Creek Lake, he served on the City Council, and as Mayor for the city of Enchanted Oaks, Texas. He was a lifelong member of the Church of Christ, where he served as an elder for several years. Later, Mac continued his days of retirement in Frisco, Texas, where he resided the last few years of his life.

Prior to and during his retirement, he enjoyed traveling the U.S. in their camper to visit family and see the sights. Many times, these adventures were shared with his older brother and sister-in-law. He also spent his time as a firearms instructor and was an avid golfer. In true Mac fashion, he always found ample time to spoil his grandkids and would host them at the lake for many summers.

Mac was predeceased by his parents; one brother, Clemon Montgomery of Fredericksburg; one sister, Lillian Greenfield of Big Spring; and one grandson, Bennett Montgomery.

Mac leaves behind many admiring friends and family who will miss him dearly. He is survived by his wife, Zelma, of Frisco, TX; sons, Jim (LeAnn) of Grapevine, TX, John (Polly) of Allen, TX; grandchildren, Colin Montgomery (Shenae Brock) of Austin, TX, Sheridan Montgomery of Allen, TX, Jill Montgomery (Nick Schafer) of Castle Rock, CO, Kyle Montgomery (Cece) of Thornton, CO; and one great-grandson, Tristan Montgomery of Thornton, CO; one sister, Franzas Cupp, Sweetwater, TX; and many other nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Parkinson's Foundation of Greater Texas.
