Hezekiah was raised in Attleboro, MA.
After March 1782 and before 1786, he moved to Adams, MA where he married Martha Baker Tiffany;
after 1786 and before 1789, he moved to Ira, near Rutland, VT, where Isaac and Hezekiah, Jr. were born;
after 1791, he returned to Adams, MA where Martha was born in 1793;
c. 1794 he moved to Otsego County, NY where Sarah was born in 1796;
he appears in 1800 census as well as a town officer (poundmaster) for the township of Otsego (per the April 10, 1800, Otsego Herald or Western Advertiser in NNY newspapers);
in 1801, he moved to Adams, NY (confirmed both by Adams land and historical records and obit of his daughter Sophira Tiffany Field);
between 1832 pension application in Adams, NY and before January 5, 1836 marriage to Betsey Hinman (her pension application states they were married in Sodus by James Edwards, Justice of Peace) he moved to Sodus, NY, where he died in 1839.

Betsey Tiffany of the town of Sodus in said County being duly sworn deposes and says, that Hezekiah Tiffany died at town of Sodus aforesaid in said County, which was the place of his residence at the time of his death, on the twenty eighth day of September last past, that the said deceased left no last will and testament which has been found or discovered, that the said deceased left personal and real estate in said county, that the value of the personal property left by the said deceased will not exceed the sum of three hundred dollars, and that the deponent is the widow of the said deceased.

PETITION FOR AUTHORITY TO SELL REAL ESTATE (CONTAINS HEIRSHIP)

To Lyman Sherwood Surrogate of the County of Wayne—the Petition of Betsey Tiffany, administratrix and Solomon G. Gibbs, administrator of all and singular the goods chattels and credits of Hezekiah Tiffany, deceased, therewith that the property of the said deceased, which has come to the hands of your petitioners, amounts to the sum of about two hundred and nineteen dollars, and that your petitioners have applied the same to payment of the debts, and for actual and necessary expenses attending the administration. That the outstanding debts of said deceased, which remain to be paid, as far as can be ascertained, amount to the sum of about one two hundred and thirty dollars. That the said deceased had at the time of his death, and was possessed of a certain contract, executed by Benjamin Coddington to the said Hezekiah Tiffany, bearing date the twenty eighth day of June one thousand eight hundred and thirty six for the purchase of ten acres of land in the town of Sodus, distinguished by the ten acre lots lying on the north side of the road leading from the Old Sodus road to Sodus Point having lot number eight in the fifth range that the whole sum due on said contract has been paid to said Benjamin Coddington.

Ruth W. Tiffany, Lydia B. Denton, the wife of Benjamin Denton, Isaac C. Tiffany, Nancy W. Tiffany, Orange R. Tiffany, Alonzo B. Tiffany, and Benjamin M. Tiffany, all of the village of Oswego in the County of Oswego [children of Isaac Tiffany, who predeceased Hezekiah, Sr.],

Betsey Tiffany, Malissa Williams, the wife of Absalom Williams, Martha J. Tiffany, and Lila Tiffany, all of Denmark in the County of Lewis & State of New York, Albert Tiffany of Canandaigua in the County of Ontario and State of New York, Alford [sic, Alfred] Tiffany in London district in Upper Canada aforesaid, and Collins Tiffany of Pinckney in the County of Lewis aforesaid [children of Hezekiah Tiffany, Jr., who predeceased Hezekiah, Sr.],

are heirs of the said Hezekiah Tiffany, deceased—

that the said, Nancy W. Tiffany, Orange R. Tiffany, Alonzo B. Tiffany, Benjamin M. Tiffany, Malissa Williams, Alford Tiffany, Martha J. Tiffany, Collins Tiffany and Lila Tiffany, are minors under the age of twenty one years and have no general guardians in this state to the knowledge of your petitioners—

that the land described in said contract is in the possession of Betsey Tiffany one of your petitioners, and is in the opinion judgment of your petitioners of the value of one hundred and fifty dollars. Your petitioners therefore pray that the said contract authority may be granted to them by the said Surrogate pursuant to the revised statutes of this state to sell so much of the interest of said Hezekiah Tiffany deceased under said contract, as shall be necessary to pay his debts.
