Carolee Joy Mock
July 4, 1939 - August 21, 2021

Obituary
Carolee Joy (Spangrud) Mock, was the seventh of eight children, born to Carl and Ella (Mortenson) Spangrud, at Greenbush, MN., on July 4, 1939. She enjoyed her childhood living on the family farm, near Halma, MN., playing with her sisters and the many cousins, who often visited. She also helped her mother with the gardens and picking the wild berries, that grew abundantly. In later years, being together with her siblings, were times of joy with much reminiscing, storytelling and laughter.

Carolee attended school in Karlstad, until 1956, when she moved to Oxford, NE., with family, shortly after her mother's death. She graduated from there in 1957, returned to MN., and attended Bemidji State University, graduating with a BS degree, in 1961. Carolee enjoyed teaching and mentoring students, and finished her educational career, in 1997, as an instructor, at NDSCS.

On June 12, 1965, Carolee married Jerome (Jerry) Mock, at Hallock, MN. The couple lived in several different places, including 28 years in Breckenridge, before their final stop, in Moorhead. Prior to Carolee's stroke, in 2009, they had enjoyed traveling and spending summers at LOW.

Carolee enjoyed reading, playing cards and games, her iPads, politics (since the 4th grade) and the Twins. From an early age she liked to write letters for her Norwegian grandmother, and to brother, Don, in Korea; imaginative newspapers, Christmas cards, and whatever else a good pen and a piece of paper, might produce.

Carolee always considered herself lucky, because of the many lasting friendships she made. But, when it came to her health, not so much.

Praying was always an important part of Carolee's life and she contended that as long as teachers give tests, there'll always be prayer in the school.

Jerry was a very loving and devoted husband and caregiver, until her death. He was her rock.

Carolee is survived by her sisters: Elmae Johnson, Janice Glidden, Judy (Dennis) Mock; brothers: Don Spangrud and EllKay (Evelyn) Spangrud; step-sister, Gloria Erickson; godchildren: Michael Johnson and Eric Carlson; "adopted" son, Amorn Kittichartphayak; and many wonderful nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; step-mother, Agnes; sister, Beverly Spilde; brother, Charles Spangrud; sisters-in-law, Jean and Helene; many Mock family members and godson, Thomas Carl Davis.

Visitation will be from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m., followed by the memorial service at 3 p.m., Thursday, August 26, 2021, at Wright Funeral Home, Moorhead, MN.

In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to North Dakota Veterans Cemetery.
