NORMAN "BUD-LUM" RIDER, 84, died Tuesday, Jan. 23, 2007, at Parkview Whitley Hospital, Columbia City. Born in Fort Wayne, he retired from General Electric Company after 42 years and also was on the Allen County Sheriffs Reserve for 17 years. He was a U.S. Navy World War II veteran. Survivors include his wife, Maxine Rider of Albion; son, Randall Rider of Fort Wayne; daughters, Trudy Christner of Noblesville, Janet Myers of Fort Wayne, Ruth Teeter of Goshen, Sharon Sommers of Smyrna, Tenn., Louise Zimmerman of Albion; 14 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and brother, Tom Mettert of Park Rapids, Minn. He was preceded in death by son, Larry Lock. Service is 11 a.m. Friday at D.O. McComb & Sons Lakeside Park Funeral Home, 1140 Lake Ave. Calling is from 2 to 5 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial in Woodland Cemetery, Ohio City, with Military graveside service. Memorials to S.P.C.A. or donor's choice.
