George Carrico Hughes, Jr., 85, of Baden, MD, passed away on August 16, 2021 at his home.
He was born on February 23, 1936, in Washington D.C. to the late George Carrico Hughes, Sr. and Vella Jean Harris Hughes.
George served in the U. S. Army in Germany and returned home to work for Prince George's County Public Works in the parts department at the sanitary landfill in Upper Marlboro, MD.
After retirement, he opened Rite Note Guitar Shop in Charlotte Hall, MD. He loved country and bluegrass music and was a fan of Willie Nelson along with many other country and bluegrass musicians. He was a lifelong guitar player and gave lessons to many students.
George is survived by his wife of 35 years, Haruko "Ricki" Hughes, his son, George C. Hughes III of Crofton, MD and step-son, John Scott McCavour (Elizabeth) of Sevierville, TN, his sister, Cecilia J. Hughes James (Paul) of The Villages, FL and grandsons, Zachary Colin Hughes, Austin Gene Hughes, and granddaughter Cameron Lee Hughes along with many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by his daughter, Tina Marie Hughes Bowers, and siblings: David L. Hughes Sr., Timothy X. Hughes Sr., and Helen M. Hughes Bowie.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, August 28, 2021 from 2 to 4 PM at Brinsfield Funeral Home 30195 Three Notch Rd., Charlotte Hall, MD 20622.
